Thai Customs Department (customs.go.th, Temporary Import/Export of Personal Motor Vehicles): "Motor cars, motorcycles, yachts or fishing vessels/boats, which are temporarily imported with passengers and will be re-exported out of Thailand within 1-2 months, but not exceeding six months (for the purpose of traveling) will be exempted from duty, provided that the importer complies with Customs rules and regulations." The specific period is entered in a special customs declaration at the border; the official text does NOT tie the vehicle's period to the driver's visa or stay (unlike our source data). The Carnet de Passages is not mentioned in the official text — Thailand uses its own simplified declaration. No extension mechanism is described in the official texts (hence extension_possible=null). SEPARATELY: driving on the roads requires a Foreign Vehicle Permit from the Department of Land Transport (fvp.dlt.go.th), which has its own periods (typically up to 30 days per entry, with 120-day and 1-year options).
