KRA notice says a free 14‑day permit is issued at entry; on expiry you may seek an extension not exceeding 90 days for Form C32 and foreign permits. That shorter limit mainly affects Kenyan/resident vehicles; non‑resident tourists using a Carnet are generally allowed up to 12 months before re‑export.

Kenya Revenue Authority, public notice: 'A free fourteen-day temporary permit will be issued at entry points to vehicles entering Kenya only with a Form C32' and 'On expiry of fourteen days or granted period, the applicant may seek an extension of a period not exceeding ninety (90) days of their Form C32 and Foreign Permits.' Vehicles travelling on an International Circulation Permit (Carnet de Passage) are issued a paid Foreign Permit. The carnet is not mandatory (Form C32 is the alternative).
