Temporary vehicle import to Kenya
A visa and a vehicle are different law: the person and the car are given their terms by different authorities, and those terms need not match.
- Maximum term
- 365
- How the term is counted
- per entry
- Carnet de Passages
- Required
- Extension
- Possible
KRA notice says a free 14‑day permit is issued at entry; on expiry you may seek an extension not exceeding 90 days for Form C32 and foreign permits. That shorter limit mainly affects Kenyan/resident vehicles; non‑resident tourists using a Carnet are generally allowed up to 12 months before re‑export.
Motor vehicles should be re-exported within such a period not exceeding twelve months from the date of importation.
