Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By using the OpenVan.camp website (the "Site"), you agree to comply with these Terms of Use (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with any of these provisions, please stop using the Site.

2. Description of the service

OpenVan.camp is a multilingual hub for travelers in motorhomes, campers, and cars. The service brings together practical data, a map, events, tools, reference materials, and news in one place, in 7 languages (Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Turkish).

The service includes:

  • Fuel prices by country
  • Maps and place information — campsites, parking, routes
  • Events — rallies, meetups, and gatherings of the vanlife community around the world
  • Practical tools — cost of living (VanBasket), weather and routes (VanSky), a currency converter, visa calculators, an EV charging map
  • Reference and editorial materials — a glossary, guides, VanLife Weekly
  • News and topical roundups
  • API, RSS, mobile, and PWA features for developers

The range and availability of features may change.

The News section partially works as an aggregator: it indexes publicly available materials — headlines, short excerpts, and metadata — from third-party sites and provides direct links to the original publications. We do not reproduce full article texts. Automated translations and summaries may contain errors.

Accuracy of data

  • Fuel prices, exchange rates, weather, and other figures may change after the last update on the site.
  • We recommend verifying critical information (cost, terms, availability) with the official source.
  • The presence of a place on the map does not guarantee the legality of parking or overnight stays, road safety, or road accessibility.
  • The date, location, cost, and terms of participation in an event should be confirmed with the organizer.

The service is provided "as is", without any warranties of availability, uninterrupted operation, or fitness for a particular purpose.

3. Third-party materials

The Site provides access to content, links, and materials from third-party sites ("Third-Party Materials"). The Site is not responsible for verifying or assessing the content, accuracy, completeness, availability, timeliness, copyright compliance, legality, decency, or quality of any Third-Party Materials or third-party sites.

We do not guarantee, endorse, or assume any responsibility for Third-Party Materials, third-party services, or third-party sites. Links to third-party resources are provided solely for convenience and informational purposes.

4. Use of artificial intelligence technologies

We use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for:

  • Translating news headlines and descriptions into supported languages
  • Clustering news — grouping similar publications from different sources
  • Classifying — determining the topic and relevance of materials
  • Generating short descriptions and summaries for news stories

Content created or processed using AI may contain inaccuracies. We do not guarantee the absolute accuracy of automated translations and generated descriptions. Clustering and summarization are automated processes that may not fully reflect the meaning or nuances of the original content. For reliable information, we recommend referring to the original sources via the links in each publication.

All materials posted on the Site are links to original sources. Copyright in the content belongs to the respective rights holders. We do not claim ownership rights over third-party content indexed by our service. More details — on the Information for Rights Holders page, including DMCA and counter-notice procedures.

6. Newsletter subscription

The Site offers a weekly news digest by email:

  • Subscription is voluntary and requires email confirmation (double opt-in)
  • You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any email
  • We do not share your email with third parties
  • More about data processing — in our Privacy Policy

7. User-submitted news

You can suggest news for publication via the form on the site. When submitting:

  • All materials are moderated before publication
  • We store a pseudonymized hash of your IP address to prevent spam
  • By submitting material, you confirm that the link leads to publicly available content

We use short links (go.openvan.camp) for social media posts. Following such a link automatically records: IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and the referring URL. This data is used for traffic analysis.

9. Mobile application (PWA)

The Site is available as a progressive web app (PWA) that can be installed on a mobile device. The terms of use for the app are the same as the terms of use for the Site. The app may cache data on your device for offline access.

10. Limitation of liability

We are not responsible for:

  • The content, accuracy, completeness, availability, timeliness, copyright compliance, or legality of materials on third-party sites linked from the Site
  • The accuracy and timeliness of information from external sources
  • The quality of automated translations and AI-generated content
  • Any direct or indirect damage related to the use of the Site
  • Temporary unavailability of the Site or individual features

11. Prohibited actions

The following are prohibited:

  • Automated data collection from the Site without written permission (scraping)
  • Attempts to hack, disrupt, or overload the Site
  • Distributing malicious code through forms on the Site
  • Mass submission of duplicate or irrelevant materials

12. Age restrictions

The Site is not intended for persons under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with their data, please contact us to have it removed.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the European Union (in particular, the GDPR) with respect to data processing. For matters not covered by these Terms, the law of the country in which the user is located applies.

14. Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to amend these Terms. The current version is always available on this page. By continuing to use the Site after changes are made, you accept the updated Terms.
