Temporary vehicle import to Iran

A visa and a vehicle are different law: the person and the car are given their terms by different authorities, and those terms need not match.

Tourists, foreign passengers or Iranians residing abroad (meeting the residence condition) may temporarily import a private vehicle for up to 3 months; this period is tied to visa duration and Carnet validity. The TACI and customs sources specify that a Carnet de Passage is required for foreigners, unless a temporary admission license is issued at the frontier against a deposit or bank guarantee.

Passengers mentioned above can use their automobile inside Iran at most for 3 months and it is possible for them to exit and enter the country via allowed borders several times.
