UKATEX from Weiden: custom seat covers for motorhomes, trucks, and cars

UKATEX, a family-run company from Weiden (Upper Palatinate), produces custom-fit seat covers for cars, trucks, and motorhomes. The range includes over 100 designs in materials such as leatherette, Alcantara, and others, compatible with side airbags, seat heating, and Isofix anchors. Covers are available for base vehicles like Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter, and for motorhomes from brands including Adria, Hymer, Knaus, and Bürstner.

Electric cars and caravans are getting closer

Manufacturers of electric vehicles and caravans are adapting to each other. Modern EVs like the VW ID Polo (towing up to 1200 kg) and BMW iX (up to 2.5 t) come with tow bars. Caravans are becoming lighter and more aerodynamic: for example, the Knaus Yaseo (from 913 kg) or Adria Avia Lite (660 kg). However, towing reduces range by about half, and charging requires uncoupling the trailer at many stations.

9 caravans with overly optimistic names

A selection of nine real caravan models whose names raise eyebrows. Among them: Compass Rallye 636, reminiscent of a Peugeot hot hatch but actually a six-berth giant; Swift Elegance Grande 860, whose 'elegance' contrasts with the need to empty the toilet; Freedom Jetstream Twin Sport, a name more fitting for an American hot rod than a Polish trailer; Adria Alpina Mississippi, whose stripes suggest a BMW Alpina copyright infringement; Coachman VIP 675, where VIP status poorly matches camping; Elddis Crusader Hurricane, named after a storm you wouldn't want to be in; Buccaneer Bermuda, named after a destination you wouldn't take such a caravan to; Swift Basecamp 6, marketed for adventurers but unsuited for off-road; and Campmaster King, whose 'royal' name belies its tiny size.

Awning for Caravan Adria Action Sports 391 LH 2026

An owner of a 2026 Adria Action Sports 391 LH caravan found that the Dometic Mobil Air Pro 361/391 awning, designed for the Action 391 PD (height 258 cm), does not fit properly due to the caravan's height of 265 cm, leaving a gap at the bottom. Suggestions include measuring the caravan's perimeter and ordering a custom awning, or checking if the awning can be extended via a zipper.

From Eyesore to Treasure: A Caravan as More Than Just a Holiday Home

In Sweden, caravans are often used not only for holidays but also as home offices, chicken coops, pop-up shops, or makeup rooms. For instance, one family renovated a 1977 Adria 380 caravan, which now serves as an extra room in the garden, and the renovation story on Instagram gained over 21,000 followers. Other uses include mobile saunas, studios, and spaces for teenagers.
