Fermo to consider making camper parking ban permanent

Gabriele Voltattorni, spokesman for the Co.r.t.a. committee, met with Fermo mayor Alberto Scarfini to discuss issues in the Lido Tre Archi district. Since September 15, a temporary ordinance has banned 24-hour parking of motorhomes and caravans; the administration will assess whether to make it permanent. Voltattorni said violators continue to move around the area and have been fined. The condition of a portico on Via Aldo Moro, deemed potentially dangerous, was also raised.

Seattle moves to restrict unpermitted RV street parking

The Seattle City Council has proposed limiting street parking for motorhomes and travel trailers without a permit to two hours and banning overnight parking from midnight to 6 a.m. The rules would take effect in 2027, with enforcement starting by July 31 of that year; violators could be towed without prior notice. The Vehicle Resident Assistance Program (VRAP), introduced by Councilmember Dan Strauss, allocates $5 million for outreach, safe parking lots, and vehicle storage. Permits would be limited to individuals identified in a one-time street survey and would allow parking in designated industrial areas for up to 72 hours. The first hearing is scheduled for the 11th, with a vote expected in mid-September.

San Diego police issued 6,742 tickets and made 797 referrals to safe parking sites during the first year (July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026) of enforcing the city's overnight parking ordinance, focusing on Mission Bay. The fine is $173. In May, a federal judge upheld the city's enforcement but ordered improvements to the Mission Valley homeless parking lot, including $900,000 in upgrades.

Palma's deputy mayor Javier Bonet said that nearly 200 people living in 105 caravans and motorhomes at the Son Hugo car park will not be evicted. However, once a new access control system is introduced, residents who remain inside overnight will not be able to leave between 10pm and 8am. The council plans to restrict entry to authorised users of municipal sports facilities. Resident representative Begoña Iglesias said about 90% of residents are members of the Municipal Sports Institute and pay fees. One resident, Luis Gómez, called for a dedicated area where caravan owners could pay to stay legally, but the council said this is not possible due to Balearic law prohibiting such campsites.

Blackpool residents call for crackdown on camper vans
