Serious accident in Ticino: seven injured and long traffic jam

On Saturday, a rear-end collision between a car and a motorhome on the A2 motorway near Mezzovico in Ticino injured seven people. The 49-year-old driver of the car, a Kosovar resident of the canton of Aargau, suffered life-threatening injuries. The 50-year-old driver of the motorhome, a Spanish national, was seriously injured. The other five occupants of the two vehicles sustained minor injuries. Traffic in the direction of the Gotthard was partially closed, with a queue of up to 17 kilometers.

Head-on collision between car and motorhome in Lozzo di Cadore disrupts traffic

On Saturday, August 8, at around 5 p.m., a car and a motorhome collided on State Road 51 near Lozzo di Cadore. Emergency services (118) arrived promptly and provided first aid to the injured. The road was completely blocked, and traffic was managed with alternating one-way passage. Two people were taken to Pieve di Cadore hospital with code 2 (non-critical) injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Tide traps camper van on beach, leaving it fully submerged

A camper van weighing around 3.5 tonnes was caught by the rising tide on a beach in France after the owner parked on the sand during low tide. The water surrounded the vehicle, covering its wheels, and witnesses filmed the incident. Recovery will require specialized equipment, and the owner may face fines for illegal parking as well as costs for towing and repairs.

Car and caravan catch fire on A12 near Ede

On Saturday afternoon around 4:40 p.m., a car towing a caravan caught fire on the A12 motorway near Ede. The caravan was detached in time. Fire crews responded to an emergency call, and one lane and the exit were closed during the incident. No injuries were reported, but the fire cut short the occupants' holiday.

Camper Fire at Kossuth County Fairgrounds Destroys Motor Home, Killing Family Cat

A fire at the Kossuth County Fairgrounds in Algona, Iowa, destroyed a 2005 Holiday Rambler motor home and killed a family cat on Thursday evening. The owners, Timothy and Kerissa Hall of Des Moines, escaped injury and saved their dog before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire is believed to have started in the rear bedroom, possibly from a roof air conditioner. The interior was a total loss.

75-year-old stopped in motorhome with knife and drugs in Denmark

On Thursday evening at around 23:40, police in Rødbyhavn stopped a British motorhome that had just disembarked from a ferry. The cabin smelled of hashish, and a drug test showed the 75-year-old driver was under the influence of THC. During a search, officers found a knife tucked into his belt and nearly 16 grams of cannabis. The man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, violating the knife law, and the controlled substances act. The Danish Immigration Service will decide whether he should be deported.
