On July 17, at the start of the summer holidays, Duisburg police, together with the NRW initiative “#sicherimStraßenverkehr” and DEKRA, set up heavy-duty scales at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena. A total of 81 motorhomes and caravans were weighed between 2 pm and 6 pm; the heaviest motorhome weighed 14,300 kg. The event also offered advice on security, gas safety, tyre checks, bicycle inspections and a driving simulator.
In Estonia, SUV owners, including Porsche Cayenne, are registering their vehicles as motorhomes to reduce the new registration fee. The Transport Department confirmed the scheme is legal but has nuances. The tax has drawn criticism for extra costs and a drop in used car sales.
Stefano Censini, national president of the Unione Club Amici (UCA), denounced that Taranto has lacked a modern, equipped motorhome parking area for 20 years. The administration of the Kalajun International Eco-tourism Zone in Xinjiang has released detailed entry rules for motorhomes, caravans, and other visitors. Motorhome entry is limited to 30 vehicles per day, only through the north gate, with check-in before 14:00. Vehicle dimensions must not exceed 6 m length, 2.5 m width, and 4 m height. Towable caravans are prohibited. Overnight stays inside motorhomes within the scenic area are not allowed.
The San Mateo County Harbor District (SMCHD) executed the remaining three years of the initial lease term with Pillar Point Harbor RV Park. The tenant has satisfied all requirements and is in full compliance. The monthly lease payment was increased by 3.8%.

The organization Camping Halland says that the number of motorhome pitches at campsites does not match the sharp increase in motorhomes on the roads. In 2025, new motorhome registrations in Sweden rose by 46% compared to the previous year. The opening of the Fehmarn Belt tunnel in the early 2030s is expected to further increase the influx of motorhome tourists to Sweden.

Switzerland saw 110,000 registered motorhomes in 2023, a 50% increase since 2020, but only 104 official farm parking spots exist due to strict zoning laws. The Huber family in Birrhard (Aargau) has offered motorhome parking for nearly 20 years, recently obtaining permits for four spots after lengthy procedures. The spot costs 18 francs per night including electricity, contributing 5,000–7,000 francs annually to the farm through shop sales.

China's State Council approved the first-ever five-year special plan for consumption, covering 2026–2030. The 28-point document addresses housing, vehicles, income and holidays. Key measures include legalising vehicle modifications, building motorhome camping sites, expanding housing provident fund use, and enforcing paid annual leave. The goal is to raise total retail sales to 60 trillion yuan by 2030.
Malaysia's Transport Ministry reported that as of July 2026, more than 1,450 recreational vehicles — including motorhomes, caravans and campervans — have been registered nationwide. The ministry officially recognises them as legal road vehicles and supports the segment as a growth niche for the automotive industry and domestic tourism. Local manufacturers and foreign investors are already setting up production plants. Vehicle financing is governed by the 1967 Hire-Purchase Act, with banks assessing applications based on market value and risk.

Malaysia's Ministry of Transport (MOT) stated that more than 1,450 recreational vehicles (RVs), including motorhomes, caravans and campervans, have been registered for private use in the country. The ministry confirmed that RVs are legal vehicles and can be registered and licensed by the Road Transport Department (JPJ). The government encourages the RV industry as a high-potential niche segment contributing to the automotive chain and domestic tourism. Regarding hire-purchase facilities, MOT noted that vehicle financing remains subject to commercial assessment by banks under the Hire-Purchase Act 1967 (amended 2025).
Residents of Boscombe, Bournemouth, complain that semi-permanent van dwellers along Boscombe Overcliff Drive block views from luxury flats and create traffic hazards. BCP Council considers measures but cannot evict them yet.
A tourist from Shenyang, Mr. Liu, filed a lawsuit against Chengdu Shengjinxiang Technology, operator of Xirui car rental, after the vehicle rented via Hello Chuxing lacked an operating license. The rental company denies the claims and has filed a counter-complaint for defamation. Hello Chuxing removed Xirui from its platform but stated it only provides information aggregation services and is not liable for disputes.
Four luxury safari tents at NRMA Bright Holiday Park must be removed after a five-year planning dispute, as Alpine Shire Council classified them as buildings rather than temporary structures. Each tent cost between A$80,000 and A$100,000 to install, remained unused during the dispute, and will be relocated interstate. Caravan and Residential Parks Victoria (CRPV) said Victoria is the only Australian state without legislated guidance for glamping, causing inconsistent decisions among local councils. The Victorian government is developing updated planning guidance for glamping and other alternative accommodation, expected later this month.
Finland has sharply increased the fuel tax for diesel motorhomes. Kempele resident Jani Karenlampi keeps his motorhome parked almost all year to save money. The registration fee is 7 euros, but the new fuel tax makes operation significantly more expensive.
The municipality of Callander, Ontario, has extended a pilot program allowing overnight parking in two designated municipal lots for ice anglers for the 2026–2027 season. The general overnight parking ban remains in effect on all other streets and lots. Signs will be installed at the exempt lots to improve public awareness. After the season, staff will assess usage and enforcement data before council decides on making the program permanent.
