The EU adopted amendments allowing drivers with category B to operate motorhomes up to 4.25 tonnes (previously 3.5 t). However, these changes are not yet in force in Germany. The situation is complicated for retirees because holders of the old class 3 (obtained before 1999) are allowed heavier motorhomes, while those with class B remain limited to 3.5 tonnes until national implementation.
