The European Parliament has approved the fourth driving license directive aimed at improving road safety. Under the decision made in October 2025, drivers with a category B license will be allowed to operate vehicles weighing up to 4.25 tonnes after completing special training or an exam. Previously, the limit was 3.5 tonnes. Each EU member state will decide whether additional training is required. The directive is expected to be transposed into national law within three years, with full implementation possibly extending to 2028.
