In Madureira, north zone of Rio de Janeiro, snack vendor Priscila de Souza had her food trailer stolen. Cameras recorded a man hitching the trailer to a silver pickup truck and fleeing. Later, she received messages from a man claiming to have the trailer and paid a ransom, but discovered it was a scam. The loss is estimated at R$30,000; police are investigating.

Starting June 15, 2026, the Brazilian city of Porto Seguro (Bahia state) will charge an environmental protection fee (TPA) for incoming vehicles. The measure was approved by Mayor Jânio Natal in November 2025 and applies to the main urban area as well as the tourist districts of Trancoso and Arraial d’Ajuda. The fee is collected via automatic license plate recognition, without toll booths. Vehicles staying less than 8 hours are exempt, except rental cars. Residents of Porto Seguro and neighboring municipalities (50% discount) are also exempt. Non-payment results in a 50% surcharge. In 2025, the city received about 1.4 million tourists.
