A barrel of Brent is now ≈ for . We break down the whole path: the chart, what comes out of a barrel and how much refining really costs.
Live price — Brent/WTI futures (Yahoo Finance) as of 12 August 2026. The official EIA spot is published with a 2–6 day lag; the cost is recalculated from the live price.

By default — a global median. Switch to a specific country's methodology: the figures and currency recalculate automatically.
Cost = the share of crude oil cost attributed to the product + refining (distillation, cracking, sulphur removal) + logistics and storage. Before excise, VAT and retail margin — these vary widely by country and are added at the pump. The estimate is averaged; the real figure depends on the crude grade, refinery configuration and region. 1 US gallon = 3.785 L.
Cost recalculates automatically from the current oil price. Delta is over 24 hours. Before taxes and excise.
The main goal is to show the fuel production cost: how much it costs to produce a litre, before taxes and excise. A single barrel yields 9 products at once. Tap any floor to expand how much its production costs.

The floor order is roughly light to heavy. Some products (coke, bitumen, oils, plastic) are made from the heavy residue by extra processing. Average refinery yield per EIA data.
Average pump price ( · ) ≈ . Below — how much of it is crude, refining, logistics and taxes. ()
An estimated market model: the crude part is from the current Brent price, refining and logistics from the methodology, tax as the residual (retail price − cost). Not the accounting cost of a specific refinery and not a forecast.
Four parts: crude oil (at the Brent/WTI price), refining, logistics with retail margin, plus excise and VAT. Before taxes the production cost is the smaller part; taxes are often the larger share of the pump price.
Before taxes it is the crude share (barrel price ÷ 159 L ÷ USD rate) plus roughly €0.20 per litre for refining and logistics. The tool recalculates the exact figure live from the current Brent or WTI price.
It depends on the country: excise is a fixed amount per litre, VAT is a percentage of the price. In EU countries taxes often exceed half the pump price. The tool shows the excise/VAT split for each country.
A barrel (about 159 L) yields gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, LPG, lubricants, bitumen, petroleum coke and petrochemicals all at once. Gasoline and diesel are the largest shares.
Higher octane (RON 98/100 vs 95) needs more reforming and additives, so production costs a few cents more per litre. At the pump the gap is bigger because of margin.
Crude is the raw-material part of the cost: crude per litre = barrel price ÷ 159 ÷ USD rate. When oil rises, the production cost rises, but taxes and margin dampen the effect at the pump.
Following the opening of the Sindopyeongdae Bridge connecting Sindo and Yeongjongdo islands, ferry operations ceased, and the Sindo terminal in Ongjin County, Incheon, has turned into a leisure area. At night, campers and other vehicles park there, while anglers fish against the backdrop of Incheon International Airport and Yeongjongdo's lights. Authorities are considering formalizing the site for camping and fishing, addressing safety and waste management.
Rémi Boukli, a 35-year-old building energy efficiency engineer, bought a used Renault Trafic and spent about eight months converting it into a camper for travel without booking accommodation. The project, including the van purchase, cost around €20,000. Work included removing tile adhesive, installing windows, insulation, furniture, solar panels, and obtaining French VASP certification.
In 2026, the camper van segment is booming with new electric models from Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen, alongside numerous aftermarket conversions and add-on kits. Traditional platforms like the Mercedes Sprinter and Ram ProMaster remain popular.
