What makes up the price of petrol at the pump?
Four parts: crude oil (at the Brent/WTI price), refining, logistics with retail margin, plus excise and VAT. Before taxes the production cost is the smaller part; taxes are often the larger share of the pump price.
How much does it cost to produce a litre of gasoline?
Before taxes it is the crude share (barrel price ÷ 159 L ÷ USD rate) plus roughly €0.20 per litre for refining and logistics. The tool recalculates the exact figure live from the current Brent or WTI price.
How much tax and excise is in the fuel price?
It depends on the country: excise is a fixed amount per litre, VAT is a percentage of the price. In EU countries taxes often exceed half the pump price. The tool shows the excise/VAT split for each country.
What is made from one barrel of oil?
A barrel (about 159 L) yields gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, LPG, lubricants, bitumen, petroleum coke and petrochemicals all at once. Gasoline and diesel are the largest shares.
Why is higher-octane petrol more expensive?
Higher octane (RON 98/100 vs 95) needs more reforming and additives, so production costs a few cents more per litre. At the pump the gap is bigger because of margin.
How does the Brent oil price affect the pump price?
Crude is the raw-material part of the cost: crude per litre = barrel price ÷ 159 ÷ USD rate. When oil rises, the production cost rises, but taxes and margin dampen the effect at the pump.

Swiss national found dead in motorhome in Şanlıurfa
The body of Swiss citizen Alexander Johannes Moor was discovered in a motorhome in the southeastern Turkish province of Şanlıurfa. The 47-year-old was traveling with his family; when relatives returned to the motorhome after visiting the city center, they found him unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police secured the area and conducted an investigation inside the vehicle. The body has been taken to the Şanlıurfa Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. No official statement on the cause has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

Changan files for plug-in hybrid motorhome with CATL battery
Changan, through its subsidiary Chongqing Changan Kuayue Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., has submitted an application to China's MIIT for a new plug-in hybrid motorhome model (CKS5042XLJX9RD01REEV). The vehicle is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL and a 1.5-litre petrol generator engine (H15RC) from Chongqing Xiaokang Power. The body length stays under 6 metres, allowing driving with a standard C1 licence. Passenger capacity options are 2, 4 or 6 people. Top speed is 90 km/h. The filing marks Changan's entry into the hybrid motorhome segment.
Two From Idaho Dead in Collision With Motorhome From California on Monday
A fatal crash occurred Monday morning on US93 north of Arco, Idaho. A 2000 GMC Yukon failed to yield to a 2022 Allegro Motorhome traveling southbound. The motorhome driver, a 73-year-old man from Oak View, California, was uninjured. Both occupants of the SUV—a 61-year-old man from Challis and a 58-year-old woman from Arco—died at the scene. The highway was blocked in both directions for investigation.
