Unknown perpetrators stole an Adria caravan from a company parking lot in Heiligenhaus, North Rhine-Westphalia, on the night of June 20, 2026. A new forest campsite with 43 pitches opens in St. Corona am Wechsel, Austria, as the planned 3-star hotel project is postponed due to lack of an operator. The WDR Fernsehen program 'Wir werden Camper' aired an episode following Britta and Andreas from Dorsten as they travel through Austria in their 8.5-meter caravan with their dog Toni. The couple, a dentist and a psychiatrist, have been camping for four years. The episode covers stops at Weissensee, Ossiacher See, Velden am Wörthersee, and Graz, where they search for children's lederhosen ahead of becoming grandparents.
A Polish couple suspected of a series of motorhome thefts in the Dresden area was arrested after the man asked his wife to pick up his car. Rafal B., 45, was detained while entering Germany at the Görlitz border crossing. According to investigators, he stole three motorhomes worth €65,000. After his arrest, he called Natalija B., 39, who was also wanted for stealing three motorhomes worth €110,000. When she arrived to collect the car, she was also arrested. The court remanded Rafal in custody and released Natalija under strict conditions.
At Hahler Hafen (Minden), campers spend entire afternoons watching passing vessels. Despite interior temperatures reaching 38°C inside motorhomes, tourists do not give up short breaks at this spot. The site's popularity is due to its location on a canal with heavy traffic.
Westfalia has unveiled a 50th anniversary edition of the Sven Hedin camper van. Based on the MAN TGE chassis, it features a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 163 hp and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is 5.98 meters long. Standard equipment includes a 120 W solar panel, two 100 Ah lithium batteries, a 90-liter refrigerator, and fresh (100 L) and waste (84 L) water tanks. On June 21, a man armed with a knife and a stick attacked a 44-year-old German woman in her motorhome in Spain. The victim's screams alerted a passerby who intervened. The suspect fled into the sea but was rescued and arrested by police.
On Tuesday afternoon, a broken-down motorhome on the Kröllwitzer Bridge in Halle caused significant traffic disruptions. Cars could pass alternately, but trams could not. This led to cancellations and diversions on line 7 for an hour and a half.
From July 2026, all new motorhomes registered in the EU must comply with the General Safety Regulation (GSR). Eight electronic assistance systems become mandatory, including automatic emergency braking, tire pressure monitoring, and driver drowsiness detection. Industry estimates suggest the new rules will increase prices by €1,000–3,000 per vehicle. Older models do not need retrofitting, but a temporary exemption applies to already produced units.
