German companies produce luxury motorhomes on truck chassis, which differ from classic camper vans. These models, measuring 8 to 12 metres in length and offering up to 50 m² of living space with slide-outs, feature car garages, roof terraces and marble bathrooms. Manufacturers include Morelo (around 430 employees, from €209,900 for the Home model), Niesmann+Bischoff (around 200 employees, from €116,850 for the iSmove), Concorde (around 250 employees, from €212,800 for the Credo), Vario Mobil (around 60 employees, from €654,110 for the Alkoven) and Volkner of Wuppertal, which has been building custom models since 1976.

Camping-Car Magazine has published a video recap featuring five motorhomes from the Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs (SVDL) at Paris-Le Bourget. The selection includes: the Niesmann+Bischoff Arto 88, a premium integrated motorhome on a 150 hp Mercedes Sprinter base with extensive customisation; the Florium Baxter 69 LJG, a compact 6.99 m coachbuilt model with twin rear beds and a 100 Ah lithium battery as standard; the Benimar Amphitryon A981, an integrated motorhome that replaces the traditional rear bedroom with a large modular lounge; the Hymer GT-S 600 Stone Edition, a 7.09 m coachbuilt model on a 170 hp Mercedes Sprinter base; and the Hobby Prestige T 740 WE, featuring a full-width rear bathroom and twin beds on a Fiat Ducato base. German manufacturer Niesmann+Bischoff has presented a video tour of its Arto 88 motorhome. Built on an AL-KO double-floor chassis with a Mercedes Sprinter, the Arto 88 measures 9.06 m long. It is the largest model in the Arto range, positioned just below the Flair series. The interior features a lounge with a forward-facing bench that can be used laterally, a kitchen block, a bathroom that converts into a shower or toilet via a sliding partition, and a bedroom with twin beds convertible into a king-size bed. Storage includes large wardrobes, a double floor and a spacious garage.

At the Elmia Husvagn Husbil trade fair, opening September 9, Forsbergs Fritidscenter will showcase three Swedish premieres in booth A01:30: the new flagship Concorde Centurion 2027, Frankia's new top series Noctra Liner, and the adventure-oriented Yucon K-Peak. The full Niesmann+Bischoff lineup, including the Arto 84, will also be on display, along with maintenance lectures for motorhome owners.

The model features an expanded Fiat Safety Kit, a new Truma CombiNeo 6 E heating system, and an optional Alde 4000 D Plus diesel heater. The energy package includes up to four lithium batteries with a total capacity of 600 Ah and solar panels up to 660 W, enabling off-grid travel for several days. Standard equipment includes a 200-liter fresh water tank and optional waste and gas tanks.

Niesmann+Bischoff has unveiled the updated iSmove for 2026. The main change is a completely redesigned electrical cabinet in the rear garage, enabling more powerful energy packages without sacrificing storage space. The standard lithium package includes two 150 Ah batteries, a charge booster, battery management system, 3,000 W inverter, and 220 W solar panel. It can be expanded to four batteries (600 Ah) and solar capacity up to 660 W. A new Truma CombiNeo 6 E heating system with electric heating and an optional Alde 4000 D Plus diesel heater are available. The Fiat Safety Kit is now standard. The model will be presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf from August 28 to September 6, 2026.

Manufacturer RAVATHERM has introduced XPS (extruded polystyrene foam) as a core material for sandwich construction in walls, floors and roofs of caravans and motorhomes. The material features low water absorption, light weight and thermal insulation. XPS is up to 100 % recyclable. It is currently used by manufacturers including Morelo, Niesmann+Bischoff, Concorde, Pilot and Carthago.

Chris Haslam, travel editor of The Sunday Times, who has traveled across the UK, Australia, Canada and the US in a motorhome, has abandoned it for a simpler setup. He now uses a Dacia Bigster and a tent, arguing that large RVs limit routes and require more planning. Bürstner has launched the Signature series, a new model line that aims to redefine the design of seven-meter motorhomes. The SFT 7.5 model is based on a Fiat Ducato chassis with an AL-KO low-frame platform and features a 2.2-liter 140 hp turbodiesel engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
