Festival of Working Sail returns to Granville: five days of historic vessels with free access for motorhomes

From 19 to 23 August 2026, the fishing port of Granville will host the 14th edition of the Festival of Working Sail. Fifteen historic vessels, including the Swedish schooner Ruth (1914) and the Granville bisquine La Granvillaise, will be moored along the quays. A municipal motorhome service area is available on Rue du Roc, about one kilometre from the port. Festival entry is free, with some paid activities.

French farmer reports illegal occupation of protected land by 74 caravans

On the night of July 7, a convoy of 74 caravans illegally occupied a 7-hectare private plot classified as a Natura 2000 zone in Chinon, Indre-et-Loire. Owner Stéphane Archambault, a farmer, estimates a 50% loss of forage yield for the next year. The group had been evicted from the neighboring municipality of Avoine a week earlier. Mayor Jean-Luc Dupont issued an eviction order but said enforcement depends on the prefect.

Glénan Concept Cars unveils second special edition Black Serie camper vans

French converter Glénan Concept Cars has launched a limited-run Horizon Van Black Serie, following the success of the Black Edition. Based on the Horizon Van Up, it is available in short (€67,490) and long (€69,490) versions, with a 150 hp engine (130 hp standard), 100 Ah lithium battery, and 210 W solar panel. Standard equipment includes Signature, Intens Full, and Conduite packs, an awning, 8 L water heater, and tailgate tent. The series is not numbered but limited in production.

French motorhome users stay home: direct impact on routes

According to Yescapa, 89% of French motorhome trips in 2026 remain domestic, up from 86% in 2023. This drives a 16% increase in bookings to cooler regions like Rhône-Alpes and Brittany, and shifts the peak season to September (73.3% intent) from August (45%). For Dutch and Flemish motorhome users, this means higher occupancy at popular spots and a need for early planning.

Notin Vera: French luxury in a semi-integrated motorhome for €90,400

French manufacturer Notin has unveiled the Vera 2027 model, an entry-level semi-integrated motorhome in the Progress/Exklusiv line. The base price is €90,400. The vehicle is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis with a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 140 hp and a manual gearbox. Standard features include a one-piece GRP rear section, metallic grey paint, a kitchen with gas hob, wine cabinet and extractor hood, and a washroom with separate shower. The sleeping area is an electric drop-down bed above the front lounge. The garage height is 115 cm. Optional packages cost between €1,900 and €7,650. Notin claims to be Europe's oldest motorhome manufacturer, founded in 1919.

Stolen motorhome chase near Lyon: 20 km on highways

On July 6, 2026, police and gendarmes chased a stolen motorhome for over 20 km near Lyon. The driver ignored orders to stop and was arrested in Saint-Fons. No injuries reported.

France: 79 villages get 'Village étape' road sign for motorhome stops

The 'Village étape' network includes 79 communes across 10 French regions, marked by dedicated road signs with motorhome and caravan pictograms. The label originated in the 1990s in Limousin as an alternative to standard motorway service areas. To qualify, a commune must be within 5 km of a major road, have fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, and offer essential services: shops, restaurants, accommodation, and parking. Rapido launches 65th anniversary limited-edition motorhomes

French manufacturer Rapido has unveiled a 65 Aniversario series of motorhomes to mark its 65th anniversary. The series includes two models on FIAT chassis: the C86i integral and the C86 low-profile. Both feature a 149-litre compressor fridge, TRUMA Combi heating, a 150 W solar panel and a 100 Ah lithium battery. The models are available at Valcaravan dealer in Valencia.

Designer caravan with fridge drawer for under €30,000

French manufacturer Caravelair has unveiled its new Sport Line range of caravans for 2027, featuring a refreshed interior with sage green accents. Six floorplans for couples and families, prices from €22,490 to €24,990. Standard equipment includes a 150-litre compressor fridge drawer, reinforced corner steadies, anti-snaking coupling, shock absorbers, flyscreen door, Truma S heater, and a 50-litre fresh water tank. Models are also available under the sister brand Sterckeman as Sport Edition.
