Three hospitalized after head-on crash between car and camper van in Deux-Sèvres

On July 17, 2026, at around 3:30 p.m., a car and a camper van collided head-on on the D59 road between Parthenay and Vasles, near La Copinière in Saurais. All three occupants sustained multiple injuries and were taken to hospitals: the 17-year-old car driver to Parthenay, and the two camper van occupants, a 70-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, to the Nord-Deux-Sèvres hospital in Faye-l’Abbesse. Traffic was diverted while the vehicles were recovered.

Notin Envol (2026): Premium becomes more affordable

French manufacturer Notin has introduced the new Envol series, starting at €80,900. This is significantly lower than the brand's usual prices, while retaining premium features. The series includes three floorplans: E649 (6.49 m) with a drop-down bed, E719CF (7.19 m) with a queen bed, and E719JF (7.19 m) with twin beds. Standard equipment includes a Pioneer multimedia system with navigation and rear-view camera, Truma Combi 6 heater, and an insulated and heated waste water tank. For €3,000, a package adds a 150 Ah lithium battery, 2000 W inverter, 200 W solar panel with MPPT controller, and a Thule awning. The rear garage has a height of up to 115 cm.

Joa-by-Pilote: budget motorhomes with generous standard equipment

Joa-by-Pilote, a brand under the Pilote Group, offers seven semi-integrated motorhomes on the German market priced between €66,000 and €68,000. All models are based on the Fiat Ducato (140 hp, 3.5 t) and come with standard features including a solar panel, awning, rear-view camera, and lane-keeping assist. For the 2027 model year, interior design has been refreshed and bathrooms optimized.

The municipality of Songeons (France) has decided to introduce fees for the local motorhome parking area, which was previously free. French Rapido Group will present a new camper van based on the Fiat Ducato with a queen bed at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon (August 28 – September 6). The 6.36 m vehicle is sold under the Rapido (V64) and Dreamer (D64 Select) brands. The layout places the kitchen behind the driver's seat and a two-seat bench by the sliding door. The bed measures 1.95×1.40 m and is accessible from both sides. Base price is €71,000; the fully equipped Dreamer Saphir version costs €79,000.

Evangelical Roma set up camp near Nice: 'Life and Light' mission holds services under a big top

Around 800 nomads, mostly members of the Evangelical Mission of the Roma of France 'Life and Light', have set up camp in Levens near Nice until July 24. The movement, founded in 1954 by pastor Clément Le Cossec, claims over 130,000 members and 404 churches. A Nice-Matin reporter attended one of the services, held up to three times a week under a large tent.

A French couple bought a 1986 Wanderlodge PT36 in Georgia, USA, and shipped it to France in autumn 2025. The 10.5-metre, 17-tonne heavy truck is powered by a 350 hp Detroit Diesel V6 two-stroke turbo engine with an automatic gearbox. It offers about 20–25 sq m of living space, four berths, a kitchen, shower, toilet, generator, gas and electric heating, solar panels and lithium batteries. The couple have already made modifications for European use.
