Volkswagen has unveiled its first electric camper, the ID. California Cruise, based on the ID. Buzz. However, Dutch converter Ventje has been offering its own camper conversion of the ID. Buzz for three years, which some say surpasses VW's version. The Ventje ID features a pop-up roof with a double bed, a rear-mounted kitchen, and starts at €85,000, while the ID. California Cruise, lacking these features, starts at just over €60,000 in Germany.
Absorption refrigerators, commonly used in motorhomes and caravans, lose efficiency at ambient temperatures above 32 degrees Celsius, while compressor models can operate at up to 43 degrees. Manufacturers are increasingly shifting to compressor fridges, which cool faster and maintain temperature better in hot conditions. This trend is driven by the growing availability of lithium batteries and solar panels, which provide sufficient power for compressor units.

Dutch manufacturer Glaravans will show the first production model of its Wave caravan on 30 September at the Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The model was previously presented as a concept. The caravan measures 6.25 m in length, 2.10 m in width, and has an interior height of 2 m. Unladen weight starts at 939 kg, with a maximum permissible mass of 1,200 kg (optionally up to 1,500 kg). The body is made of polyester with a core of recycled PET bottles, without wood. 22 floor plans are available. The unveiling is scheduled for 10:15.

The new Concorde Centurion 1100 GI, debuting at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, features a garage under the double bed that can hold a Fiat 500 or Mini Cooper. Built on a Mercedes-Benz Actros chassis with a gross weight of 18 tonnes, it requires a C-class licence. The price in Germany is €715,000.
Spanish couple Juanma and Tony have lived for nearly four years in a self-converted van of just five square meters, paying no water or electricity bills and using only two gas bottles a year for cooking and heating water. They bought the van, named La Leoneta, for 8,000 euros and spent another 3,000 euros on repairs. Power comes from a 200 Ah lithium battery and a 400 W solar panel; showering is done in a fold-out 80 cm pool with a USB-charged pump, and a 21-liter dry toilet is used. The couple says their chronic conditions have improved since leaving a stressful lifestyle, and they describe the camper community as a village on wheels.
Karen and Myles Davies from the village of Milverton have lived in a 7.5-meter motorhome named Scoobie for ten years, covering about 177,000 kilometers across 30 countries. Renting a house used to cost them over 1,550 euros per month, while their current living expenses, including fuel and food, range between 1,750 and 2,350 euros per month. The couple started their journey in 2016 as a year-long experiment, but after five weeks Karen said she did not want to go back. They earn income through investments, rental property, writing, and yoga teaching, and continue to pay taxes.
Starting January 1, 2026, the Netherlands doubled the road tax on motorhomes, prompting owners to sell. Meanwhile, Belgium saw a rise in new motorhome and caravan registrations: 4,022 motorhomes (+9.4%) and 732 caravans (+13%) between January and July. About 35% of motorhome buyers and 40% of camper van buyers are first-time purchasers, making Belgium an attractive market for Dutch sellers, though 90% of purchases involve financing.
Around 22:15, the fire brigade received a report of a hazardous materials incident at Azelosestraat in Borne. On arrival, a strong smell of rotten eggs was detected, coming from a battery in a camper. The owner had called the fire brigade himself. The battery, which was already warm, was safely removed and placed in a container of water to cool down. Additional checks were carried out to ensure the situation was completely safe. Thanks to the timely actions of the owner and the fire brigade, a fire involving the battery and the camper was prevented.
French company Beauer has unveiled the X8 caravan, which measures 2.05 meters wide on the road and expands to 4.80 meters at the campsite via electric cylinders in about 60 seconds, tripling the living space. It features two bedrooms with double beds, two convertible sofas, a kitchen with a 190-liter fridge, and a separate shower. The caravan weighs up to 2,700 kg, leaving only about 100 kg of payload. Prices start at 109,990 euros.
A car and a camper collided on road N598 in Terlinden. One person was injured, the road was partially closed, police are investigating.

Mestic has introduced new lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) batteries for caravan movers. The 4.5 kg (20Ah) and 5.6 kg (30Ah) models are significantly lighter than traditional lead-acid AGM batteries, which weigh 25–27 kg. With a usable capacity of 90–100%, the 20 or 30 Ah versions provide sufficient power for the mover. The batteries feature a self-discharge rate of only 2% per month, a built-in charger, and can be monitored via the Mestic app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Isabella presented new products, including the Partner system for cassette awnings, which allows creating a shelter from separate side and front panels. Also shown were the Fellow side wall with windbreak, the Winter Camper tent for tall motorhomes, the Thor XL chair with a 56 cm wide seat, and stackable cabinets. The novelties will be on display until September 6.

Carado has introduced the CV595 4x4 X-Edition, a compact camper based on the Volkswagen Crafter. All-wheel drive and an automatic transmission are standard, but some off-road equipment, including off-road tires and a bullbar, is optional. From September 4 to 6, the annual Camp-let Weekend will take place at Camping De Stjelp in Oudega, organized by Vouwwagencentrum Noordbergum. Teleco introduced the Ultra Comfort 9000M air conditioner for the Mercedes Sprinter at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. The system, available in MS and MV variants, is designed for semi-integrated and camper vans based on Mercedes with automatic transmission. The compressor is mounted under the hood, and the interior unit is integrated into the dashboard, leaving the roof free for solar panels. Cooling capacity is 7,900 BTU/h (2,310 W), heating capacity up to 7,560 BTU/h. For off-grid use, Teleco recommends the optional TI 2000 SI-ACT inverter and a LiFePO4 battery of at least 100 Ah.
