German manufacturer Morelo, based in Schliesselfeld, has overhauled its line of luxury motorhomes. The flagship Grand Empire version is priced at 800,000 euros. The 18-tonne motorhome is built on a Mercedes Actros chassis with a 12.8-litre inline-six engine producing up to 530 hp and 2,800 Nm of torque. Fuel capacity is 500 litres, and a full tank at current prices costs about 1,150 euros. Inside, the company has dropped gold trim and decorative details in favour of light colours and brushed aluminium. Standard equipment includes a king-size bed, rain shower, heated floor, induction hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, 900 W solar panels and four 800 Ah batteries. A heated garage can accommodate a small car. The company employs 430 people and builds around 500 motorhomes per year; revenue is 165 million euros with profit just over 100,000 euros. Buyers are mainly professionals, rental companies, event organisers and racing teams, including Formula 1 clients.
