A comparison of 248 cities in Germany by VanSky score — how comfortable it is to travel in each today. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea. Sort by any metric and pick your next stop. A comparison of 16 regions of Germany by VanSky score — where it's most comfortable to travel right now. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea.
The country score (0–100) is computed from all of its cities, not a single point. Cities are grouped into regions, and a region's score is the median of its cities so dense clusters don't outweigh sparse ones. Final score = 0.65 × “best areas” (80th percentile of regions) + 0.35 × “typical conditions” (median of regions), so one warm city can't push the whole country to 100. Each city's score blends warmth (feels-like), sun, rain and wind, adjusted for night temperature and, on the coast, the sea. Data: Open-Meteo, refreshed several times a day.
The scale above shows what share of the country's cities falls into each comfort band. “Best spot” is the most comfortable region or city this week; “typical conditions” is the median score across regions.

At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, the new luxury motorhome Concorde Centurion 1100 GI, based on the Mercedes-Benz Actros, was unveiled. The 10.99-meter model features a hydraulic rear door that accommodates a Fiat 500 or Mini Cooper. Inside, there is an L-shaped seating area, a French bed measuring 200×180 cm, an optional drop-down bed, 600 Ah lithium batteries, and a 6000-watt Alde heating system. The base price is 715,000 euros.
Volkswagen has introduced the ID.Buzz California Cruise, an electric camper based on the ID.Buzz van. The company previously said there was no demand for such a model, but has now released a simplified version without a full kitchen or pop-up roof. It features a double bed measuring 2.03 meters long and 1.20 meters wide, plus a California mode for controlling lighting, USB ports, and climate. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability provides up to 2 kW continuous and 3.6 kW peak power for external devices. The price in Germany starts at just over 60,000 euros, and Volkswagen plans to present more fully electric California models by the end of 2028.
At the Caravan Salon 2026, Truma and GOK presented new gas regulators that make small gas sources safe and legal for use in motorhomes. The Truma MonoControl CS R is designed for Campingaz R 904/R 907 cylinders and includes a crash sensor, while the GOK regulator (30 mbar, 0.5 kg/h) is certified to EN 16129 and works with screw-on cartridges. This allows campers to replace heavy 11-kg cylinders, saving up to 15.5 kg.
