The number of Russians choosing motorhomes for travel is increasing, with about 30,000 enthusiasts. Moscow's only campsite in Sokolniki accommodates 54 motorhomes on 4 hectares, offering electricity, water, and showers. Families with dogs prefer this mode of travel for its freedom and lack of hotel restrictions. Russia has over 400 campsites, but this is still insufficient compared to Western Europe.
Japanese company RV Trust has unveiled an updated version of the TR550L.Bolero-V.max camper based on the Toyota Hiace Wagon GL. The model features a modernized air conditioning system, a 400 Ah lithium-ion battery, and a 160 W solar panel. Inside, there are two fixed beds, a kitchen with a 65-liter refrigerator, and a separate toilet and shower room. Dimensions are 5480×2150×2850 mm, with prices in Japan starting at 14.9 million yen.
Travel by motorhomes and caravans is gaining popularity in Russia, but tourists lack equipped sites with water, electricity, and services. According to the RV Land project, by May 2026 there were about 32,200 owners of such vehicles in Russia, and by July the number of accepting facilities reached 469, though many are not specialized. Due to the shortage of infrastructure, travelers are forced to stop on unequipped territories. In 2027, the Grand Seliger resort plans to open the first caravan site, and M9 Development is considering sites near Lake Ladoga in Karelia and in Teriberka.
Adria has unveiled the Coral XL 660 SL 2024, an alcove motorhome built on a front-wheel-drive Fiat Ducato chassis. It is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 180 hp, paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and accommodates five people. The interior includes two double beds, a separate shower cubicle, a 20-liter bio-toilet, a Truma Combi 6E heating system (gas/electric), a 142-liter refrigerator with freezer, and a 10-liter boiler. The vehicle has a permissible gross weight of 3,500 kg, a payload of 520 kg, and a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 kg. It falls into category B, allowing most drivers to operate it without additional licensing.
Japanese company Annex has launched series production of the compact Liberty 52 REi camper on a Toyota Camroad chassis. At 5.23 meters in length, the motorhome accommodates up to eight passengers and five berths, including a U-shaped lounge and a pull-out bed above the cab. It features a kitchen with an 85-liter refrigerator, solar panels up to 590 W, and battery options up to 9.6 kWh. Prices in Japan start at 16 million yen.
The Incabl family from Spain, traveling in a motorhome, visited Kazakhstan for the first time. In four years, they have visited about 40 countries, covering 10,000 kilometers.
Australian company Kimberley has unveiled a concept for the next-generation Karavan 2026/2027 off-road camper. The model features a pop-up roof, panoramic windows, a 48-volt electrical system, and optional solar panels with up to 770 W output. It sleeps up to six people. Pricing for the new generation has not been announced; the current lineup starts at 126,000 Australian dollars.
German manufacturer Laika has introduced the new Kreos H5109 MB motorhome built on the Mercedes Sprinter 417 chassis with a 170-hp turbodiesel and 9-speed automatic transmission. The model will be presented at the camper show in Düsseldorf. The interior features eco-leather and walnut wood, a double bed, two sofas, a kitchen with a gas hob and a bathroom with a tropical shower. The motorhome has a 170-liter water tank and a 146-liter waste tank, with some functions controllable via smartphone.

Caravanning development could boost regional economies, as motorhome owners travel long routes and use local services. M9 Development is exploring placing caravanners in its tourism projects, including Lake Ladoga and Teriberka.
Action Mobil has introduced the Global XRS 7400 Leopard motorhome based on a three-axle MAN TGS truck with a 630 hp engine. The model is designed for extended off-grid living: 520 L water tank (expandable to 900 L), 1440 W solar panel, and a hydraulic lift for motorcycles up to 500 kg. Inside are a bedroom, kitchen with induction hob, washer/dryer, and separate toilet and shower. The vehicle targets expedition travel and is expected to appeal to Russian buyers for long-distance trips.
Action Mobil has unveiled the Atacama 7200 Arocs expedition vehicle based on a three-axle all-wheel-drive Mercedes Arocs 6×6. The vehicle measures 10.9 meters in length, 2.47 meters in width, and 3.85 meters in height. The 7.2-meter living module accommodates six people and includes a kitchen with an induction hob, dishwasher, 175-liter refrigerator, and 150-liter freezer, as well as a bathroom with a shower. Autonomy is ensured by six lithium-ion batteries, 1760 W solar panels, tanks for 800 liters of fresh water, and 220 liters for wastewater. The 510-horsepower engine allows carrying up to 9.9 tons of cargo. The model is designed for long expeditions far from civilization.
At the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026, NTB presented the new Aosagi camper, developed with YouTube blogger Kupio. Built on an Isuzu Travio chassis, the motorhome measures 4940 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, and 2980 mm in height, with a minimum turning radius of 4.4 meters. It features a 1.9-liter turbodiesel, safety systems, a fixed bed, a shower, a kitchen, air conditioning, and solar panels. The price in Japan starts at 12,980,000 yen.
Anton Nikitin, director of the Murmansk driving school NikA, told SeverPost about the advantages and disadvantages of motorhomes. Benefits include freedom of movement, savings on hotels, and the ability to cook your own meals. Drawbacks include high costs (from 500,000 rubles for a used vehicle), high fuel consumption, demanding maintenance, and limited living space.
Nissan, together with German company Eifelland, has developed the electric camper Interstar-e Relax, which will be presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf at the end of August. It is the only electric camper with an interior heater connected directly to the battery. The range is 410 km, the motor produces 143 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The price starts at €89,900. Features include a compact kitchen with sink, induction hob and 90-litre fridge, a 1.9×1.6 m bed, four seats, a portable toilet and two opening skylights.
Residents of large Russian cities are increasingly traveling in motorhomes, preferring them to all-inclusive vacations abroad. Renting a motorhome is cheaper than staying in a hotel and allows travelers to avoid dependence on public transport schedules and baggage restrictions. In the Leningrad region, tourist bases are being created for such travelers, offering overnight stays, battery charging, and water refills.
On the Vytland coast between Baltiysk and Primorsk, unknown individuals have erected fences and set up paid campsites with motorhomes, blocking free access to the sea. Renting a spot in such a camp costs from 4,000 rubles per day. Local residents complain that the seizure of the coastal strip violates the Russian Water Code.
American company Storyteller Overland presented the off-road motorhome GXV Wild at the Overland Expo West 2026 show in the US. Based on the Ram 3500 pickup, it features a 6.4-liter V8 Hemi producing 375 hp and accommodates four people. The motorhome is priced from $299,898 and includes a kitchen, bathroom, double bed, fold-out sofa, and a rear terrace with an awning. It also has underbody protection, a winch, off-road tires, and can tow a 4.5-ton trailer.
German company ARI Motors is preparing to launch the compact electric camper ARI 458 Pro Camper in Europe. Based on the ARI 458 Pro van, it measures 3820 mm in length and 1490 mm in width, features a 15 kW (about 20 hp) electric motor and a choice of batteries: 15 kWh (range up to 120 km) or 23.5 kWh (up to 230 km). Top speed is limited to 70 km/h. The base price in Germany starts at €25,530 (excluding taxes), with furniture and some equipment available at extra cost.

At the ProDvizhenie-2026 festival held at VDNKh in Moscow from July 30 to August 2, the new Russian motorhome Verso, based on the Sollers SF5, was presented. The model is ready for production, with orders starting at 6,150,000 rubles and a production time of about one month. The motorhome features two double beds, a kitchen, a bathroom, a heater with boiler, air conditioning, and solar panels.
