The required driving license category for a motorhome or caravan depends on its permissible total weight. For vehicles up to 3.5 tons, a category B license is sufficient, but an EU reform planned for 2028 will expand this category to 4.25 tons subject to additional training. Special rules apply for drivers who obtained their license before 1999, including the ability to drive motorhomes up to 7.5 tons.
