Poland's President Karol Nawrocki has signed an amendment to the Public Roads Act that abolishes tolls on national roads for passenger cars and light vans towing trailers (including camper, boat and car transporter trailers) for private purposes. Previously, a fee was charged if the combined weight of the vehicle combination exceeded 3.5 tonnes; now only the weight of the towing vehicle will matter.
The change takes effect 60 days after publication in the Dziennik Ustaw, tentatively in the second half of September 2026. The 500-zloty fine for non-payment for such drivers is abolished, leaving only the 1500-zloty fine for trucks and buses. e-TOLL rates for these vehicles previously ranged from 0.20 to 0.65 zloty per kilometre.
The law also expands the list of offences leading to a five-year driving ban: from 30 March 2026, police will be obliged to confiscate licences for three months for drifting or riding on one wheel, and ignoring this ban will result in an administrative five-year ban. It also expands the powers of industry competence centres for driver training.
