The Polish Senate on Thursday approved without amendments a bill that exempts passenger cars and light vans towing camping, boat or utility trailers for private use from tolls on national roads. Previously, tolls applied when the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer exceeded 3.5 tonnes; under the new rules, only the weight of the towing vehicle will matter. The bill also expands the authority of vocational training centres for drivers and introduces stricter penalties for drifting. The legislation now goes to the president for signature.
