Poland's Sejm has passed a law exempting passenger cars and light vans towing caravans from tolls on national roads if the total mass of the combination exceeds 3.5 tonnes. Previously, such combinations were treated as trucks and subject to the e-toll fee, which could reach 300 zlotys for the Kraków–Chłapowo route.
Now the decisive factor will be the mass of the towing vehicle alone. The law was passed by 429 votes with one against and has been sent to the Senate. It will take effect before the summer holidays and also applies to foreign vehicles, including Czech ones.
The law also covers boat trailers and lafets for personal use, and tightens penalties for drifting and regulates the activities of industry competence centers.
