Poland exempts cars towing caravans from tolls

The Polish Sejm has passed an amendment to the Public Roads Act, exempting passenger cars and light commercial vehicles towing trailers (including caravans, boat trailers, and car transporters for private use) from tolls on national roads. Previously, tolls applied if the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer exceeded 3.5 tonnes; now only the weight of the towing vehicle matters. The bill has been sent to the Senate.

Toyota Poland introduced the Proace Max Tanuki camper van on April 23, 2026, based on the Proace Max LCV. It sleeps up to five, includes a toilet, shower, kitchen, and an optional pop-up roof. Dimensions: length 5990 mm (6360 mm long version), height 2640 mm. Powered by a 2.2L diesel with 180 hp (8-speed auto) or 140 hp (6-speed manual). Price starts at PLN 459,900 (approx. €107,000).

In Poland, the number of family disputes over expensive motorhome purchases is rising. Owners who financed vehicles costing up to 800,000 zlotys often cut costs on campsites and parking, disappointing partners expecting comfortable vacations. The country's motorhome infrastructure remains underdeveloped.

According to a Eurocamp Polska report, 65% of Poles now perceive campsites as modern resorts with water parks and extensive infrastructure. Only 7% of respondents have not changed their view. The most popular destinations are Italy, Croatia, and Spain, with the latter expected to be the season's hit due to geopolitical tensions and a search for safe European alternatives.

Volkswagen has unveiled the updated Grand California, fully manufactured in Poland. The model features a new interior with Atami Bamboo color scheme, black details, and improved ergonomics, including new cabinet locks and a foldable table. A Dune version with off-road styling and enhanced equipment has also been introduced. The Grand California is available in two lengths (6 and 6.8 m) and includes a bathroom, kitchen with refrigerator and gas stove.

Citroën has matched the prices of electric vans with their diesel counterparts in a promotion for the Polish market. The e-Berlingo Van with a 54 kWh battery and a range of about 340 km costs from PLN 79,990 net – the same as the 1.5-liter diesel version with 100 hp. The offer also covers the e-Jumpy (from PLN 91,990) and e-Jumper (from PLN 176,710). Stellantis notes that with rising fuel costs, electric vehicles are more advantageous in total cost of ownership due to cheaper energy and lower maintenance.
