Gross Train Weight

GTW, train weight, combined weight, total combination weight, combination mass

Gross Train Weight (GTW) is the maximum permitted combined weight of a towing vehicle plus its attached trailer or caravan when fully laden. Exceeding GTW is illegal and invalidates insurance.

GTW = towing vehicle GVW + caravan MTPLM. The GTW rating is found in the tow vehicle's handbook. Always verify both the GTW and towing capacity limits before purchasing a caravan.
