On Thursday afternoon, a car towing a caravan left the road and ended up in a ditch on the N31 (Wâldwei) near Garyp (also referred to as Garijp or Garijp). The incident occurred around 12:45 while the driver was heading from Drachten to Leeuwarden, with a final destination of Earnewâld. According to one source, the caravan began to sway, causing the combination to skid.
Police, firefighters, and two ambulances arrived at the scene. The occupants were examined but did not require hospitalization. The caravan sustained serious damage and is considered a total loss; the car was also damaged and will be towed. Traffic towards Leeuwarden was impeded, with some reports mentioning single-lane traffic. The cause of the skid is under investigation.
