Caravana Leeuwarden 2027

Caravana Leeuwarden is the leading caravan and camping exhibition in the northern Netherlands, held at WTC Expo Leeuwarden for five days each January. The fair showcases caravans, motorhomes, folding trailers, and camping accessories, attracting strong consumer and trade attendance from Friesland and the wider northern Netherlands.

Exhibitors include Dutch and European RV brands, campsite operators, travel destinations, and accessories suppliers. Caravana is part of a network of Dutch regional caravaning fairs and serves as a key showcase for the new season's models before the camping season begins.

Glaravans has refurbished a 1976 Biod Extase 2L camper, preserving its original fiberglass shell. The project was completed for a private owner and is not for sale. The camper has a GVWR of 750 kg (1,653 lbs) and can be towed in Europe without a special license. The interior features a bed, a modular dinette with a drop-down table, a galley with a sink and fridge, and a toilet. Glaravans, known for restoring vintage campers since 2019, shifted focus to its own camper model in 2026.

Willem van Gool from Brabant has lived in his old camper for five years, which he renovated himself. He moved to Friesland for love: he met his girlfriend Joke on a dating site and has since almost always stayed at campsite Fraai in Haulerwijk. The camper is named Hannes after Willem's grandfather and because the renovation was a lot of hassle. Inside, Willem created a colourful interior with Viking paintings.

The owner of a 2021 Sun Living camper with 63,000 km on the odometer achieved a return on investment of approximately 10% after two years of renting it out through Randstad Campers. The company charges a 25% commission on rental income, covering storage, washing, preparation, cleaning and maintenance. A rental camper must be no older than 5 years and include a multimedia system, air conditioning and a Maxfan; more than half of the rental fleet also has a solar panel. Owners can block the camper for personal use for a service fee of about €185. The current asking price of the camper is €58,000. Randstad Campers manages 65 campers and has been operating for 8 years.

Lume Traveler has introduced the Ranger, the lightest model in its range. The caravan has an aluminium body measuring 3.60 m long and 2.04 m wide, and features a pop-up roof that provides standing height on site. Unladen weight is 1,150 kg, maximum permissible weight is 1,500 kg, giving a payload of 350 kg. Inside there is a fixed double bed (160 x 200 cm), a seating/dinette area and a washroom; the kitchen with two gas burners and a sink is located outside. The starting price is 49,950 euros. The Ranger is one of five nominees for the ANWB Caravan of the Year 2027 award; the winner will be announced on 30 September at the Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.
