A Russian workshop has built an affordable motorhome on the four-wheel-drive chassis of a 2018 UAZ Profi. The project is priced at 2,699,000 roubles. The design combines easy servicing of the domestic platform with equipment close to that of more expensive series-produced motorhomes.
Chassis and living module
Power comes from a standard 2.7-litre petrol engine producing 150 hp. It works with a manual gearbox, as in the series UAZ Profi from 2018. The four-wheel drive can be engaged when needed.
A living module measuring 4060 × 2000 × 2000 mm replaces the factory cargo platform. Inside there are five berths and two seats in the cab, so the model comfortably accommodates seven people. The interior includes a shower room, a kitchen unit with a gas hob and microwave, a fridge and a water heater, plus a television, a heater and a Komfort air conditioner. For off-grid trips there is a 120-litre fresh water tank and a 95-litre waste water tank.
High ground clearance and engageable four-wheel drive give good progress on dirt roads and moderately difficult terrain. The large, heavy living module increases the vehicle's windage and weight, so driving needs care and an adapted style. The main advantages for Russian buyers are the low price compared with most imported models and the simple repair of the base chassis with readily available parts.
