A crew travelling in a Ural-based motorhome with a caravan and a buggy left Mozhaysk in late March heading for the Altai, but changed route to Kalmykia and Astrakhan because of snow. They covered 2,100 km in the first ten days. Diesel cost 42,000 roubles, and there were no utility bills. The trip included a broken throttle cable and an attempt to modify a pot lid with a screwdriver.
