Japan Special Body (NTB) will open a new camper van showroom, Lots INOUTDOOR, in Hachioji, Tokyo, on June 26, 2026. The event will feature the debut of the AOSAGI camper van, co-developed with popular YouTuber Kupio (channel “Kupio no Shachu Seikatsu,” approx. 790k subscribers). Based on the Travio platform, the AOSAGI includes a boiler, toilet, shower, semi-permanent bed, and ample storage. NTB will also display the HARUKA, successor to the SAKURA, equipped with a 975W solar panel, 5 kWh lithium battery, and dual inverters. Additionally, the Phase Free-certified EXPEDITION STRIKER and KAGAYAKI models will be shown, designed for both leisure and emergency use.

NTT Group launches a pilot project of guest trailers at the Mukawa Shiki no Yakata roadside station from July 1. The hotel operates without staff, check-in via facial recognition. The project aims to attract tourists to the new dinosaur museum.
The Aso Roadside Station in Kumamoto Prefecture, a popular spot for motorhome and camper van travelers, faced overcrowding in the evening. According to a visitor, the first parking lot was completely occupied by vehicles for overnight sleeping and motorhomes by 9:00 PM, with the second lot also nearly full. The station offers local products, including coffee jelly made from spring water and ASOMILK drinking yogurt.
Carstay will showcase the SAny.VAN at the Tokyo Dog Show 2026. About 80% of its buyers own a dog. The conversion starts at $15,000. The base can be a Toyota Hiace, Nissan Vanette Van, or the customer's own van. Owners can rent out the camper via Carstay's platform.
Lukura, a manufacturer and renter of travel trailers, donated one unit to Noto town in Ishikawa Prefecture through a corporate hometown tax donation program. The trailer has been placed at Yanagida Botanical Park to help address the shortage of accommodation after the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake. Carstay, a Japanese platform for campervan rental and sharing, announced its participation in TOKYO DOG SHOW 2026, held June 26–28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The company will display its SAny.VAN motorhome, designed with dog owners in mind. According to Carstay, about 80% of SAny.VAN buyers are dog owners. The vehicle features a modular interior with standard sofa bed, sink, and battery, with optional air conditioning and solar panels. Prices start at ¥2.42 million (approx. $16,000 USD) for a model built on a used or customer-supplied base vehicle, with delivery in as little as 1.5 months.
Garagara Mountain Campground, located in Fukui Prefecture, has been open since 1993 and after renovation in 2017 offers auto sites, campfire areas, and cottages. The 6.8-hectare site features 16 auto sites, 7 campfire zones, and 17 cottages. The campground is known for its proximity to the sea and sunset views, as well as additional services including fish cleaning assistance.
Recvee has announced the presentation of a motorhome based on the Nissan Caravan minivan, scheduled for July at the Tokyo camper show. The vehicle accommodates six passengers and four sleeping berths, with a width increased to 1880 mm. The company will offer around 270 layout and interior configurations, along with three trim levels featuring equipment such as a refrigerator, solar panels, and air conditioning. Technical specifications likely include a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine; pricing has not been disclosed.
The Korean electric van Kia PV5 in Passenger and Cargo versions will be showcased on June 27–28 at Minamimachida Grandberry Park. JR East announced a one-time run of the special train 'Tokai Lumiere Express' on the Tokyo–Osaka route. Departure on August 8 at 10:00 PM, arrival on August 9. The train stops at Gifu-Hashima station from midnight to 6:00 AM, allowing passengers to stay onboard. Ticket price is 15,000 yen per person. Tickets are sold exclusively via the JR East Tours website starting July 3.
Japanese coachbuilder RecVee has unveiled the Plus LIV'N Wide motorhome based on the Nissan Caravan Wide Body. The body width is increased to 1880 mm (from 1695 mm on the previous version), overall length is 5230 mm. The new model features a bunk bed, allowing transport of up to 6 people and sleeping 4. A total of 270 combinations of layouts, trims, and equipment packages are available. The public debut will take place on July 11–12 at the Tokyo Camping Car Show 2026 at Tokyo Big Sight. Pricing will be announced at the show.

The author, who does car photography and night shooting, tested two types of mosquito coils and a combined sunscreen and insect repellent stick. The testing took place during camping and night photography in Japan. Both coils were effective, with choice depending on scent preference. The combined stick was convenient and non-greasy.
