A German publication explains that a caravan (trailer) can be stored outside in winter if the pitch is firm and not waterlogged. For a detached trailer on public roads, § 12(3b) StVO applies: a maximum of two weeks in the same place, except on specially marked pitches. Long-term winter storage requires a private pitch, campsite or designated permanent site. Regular checks of the roof after snowfall are advised, simple plastic covers should be avoided, and seals, supports and tyres should be inspected.
