Winter storage, off-season storage, laying up, storage yard, CaSSOA, indoor storage, caravan storage

Winter storage is parking a motorhome or caravan somewhere organised for the months it is not in use. It is a service market of its own: secure yards, barns and indoor buildings.

Insurers almost always ask where the vehicle is kept and discount premiums for a secure site; in the UK the benchmark is a CaSSOA-rated yard (Gold, Silver or Bronze). Prices range from about €30 a month for an open yard to €150 and up for a heated building. Before laying up: winterise the water, remove or trickle-charge the leisure battery, set tyres slightly above normal pressure, leave the interior ventilated, and take the gas bottles out if the site requires it.
