Spain's law on living in a motorhome on your own land

In Spain, living permanently in a motorhome on private land is not legally considered a permanent residence. Under Royal Decree 2822/1998, such vehicles are classified as substandard housing, comparable to shacks and caves. The law distinguishes between parking (without extending awnings or furniture) and camping (with outdoor setup), with wild camping completely banned in eight autonomous communities, including Andalusia, Aragon, and Madrid. Registering a motorhome as a habitual address requires proof of minimum habitability standards (hygiene, safety, basic utilities), often necessitating an alternative registration address.
