Compare countries and cities by VanSky score and pick your next stop Compare regions by VanSky score and pick your destination
A comparison of 212 cities in Spain by VanSky score — how comfortable it is to travel in each today. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea. Sort by any metric and pick your next stop. A comparison of 19 regions of Spain by VanSky score — where it's most comfortable to travel right now. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea.
The country score (0–100) is computed from all of its cities, not a single point. Cities are grouped into regions, and a region's score is the median of its cities so dense clusters don't outweigh sparse ones. Final score = 0.65 × “best areas” (80th percentile of regions) + 0.35 × “typical conditions” (median of regions), so one warm city can't push the whole country to 100. Each city's score blends warmth (feels-like), sun, rain and wind, adjusted for night temperature and, on the coast, the sea. Data: Open-Meteo, refreshed several times a day.
The scale above shows what share of the country's cities falls into each comfort band. “Best spot” is the most comfortable region or city this week; “typical conditions” is the median score across regions.

Buying a motorhome for the first time requires evaluating more than just price and interior layout. Weight, homologation, history, fuel consumption, insurance, actual use, and documentation must be checked, as a poor choice can lead to ongoing costs. The key is deciding how it will be used: weekend trips, long journeys, family routes, or autonomous overnight stays. This determines size, bed type, tank capacity, auxiliary battery, and driving license requirements.
A visit to a police station in Castro Urdiales prompted the author to question why they didn't choose a hotel holiday. Traveling by motorhome turned out to involve unexpected difficulties, including parking and service issues.
The Stoffels family from Vlaardingen (Netherlands) sold their apartment and planned to relocate to Valencia to open a barbecue restaurant, but instead began traveling across Europe in a motorhome. Since October, they have been moving between coastal areas and historical sites, with their children receiving remote education. The family acknowledges this lifestyle is temporary: when the proceeds from the house sale run out, they plan to move to Sardinia and open a campsite there.
In Córdoba, Spain, renting a motorhome in high season costs €150–175 per day, while buying one starts at €70,000. Demand for this type of travel has stabilised at a high level after the pandemic boom. Companies HerloHobby and Autocaravanas Córdoba report a growing number of customers, especially families, and an increase in summer bookings.
Ángel González, a 54-year-old bricklayer, moved into an old caravan in 2012 after losing his job and still cannot afford rent. The Málaga city council plans to evict him and over 100 others living in similar conditions on a private plot, citing unsanitary conditions, waste management issues, and neighbor complaints.
Pampaneira, part of the Barranco de Poqueira historic ensemble in Granada, attracts campervan users with its architecture and free parking. The village of about 300 inhabitants features narrow cobbled streets with irrigation channels carrying meltwater. Overnight stays in campers are allowed under general DGT rules; the recommended spot is the municipal parking lot at the entrance. Alternatives include a parking area in Capileira 11 minutes away or Camping El Balcon de Pitres with services for €7.50 per person plus €9.50 per vehicle.
