Under French law, a caravan can be placed and used as housing on private property for no more than three months per year, after which a prior declaration to the town hall is required.
Consequences
Violations carry fines of up to 500 euros per day. If mobility is altered (e.g., wheels removed), an order to return the vehicle to its original state or demolition with a fine of 500 euros per day may follow.
