In Brief

At the CMT show in Stuttgart, Dethleffs presented the C-Fold concept caravan designed for EVs. When folded, its height is 1.65 m, reducing aerodynamic drag and potentially increasing EV range by 100 km, according to the company.

German manufacturer Dethleffs unveiled the C-Fold folding caravan concept at the CMT 2026 exhibition in Stuttgart, targeting electric vehicle owners.

Design and dimensions

The trailer is 5.5 m long and 1.9 m wide, with a folded height of 1.65 m (some sources report 1.6 m). On site, the roof rises, doubling interior space. The construction uses aluminum sandwich panels and features air suspension with self-leveling, electric roof lowering, integrated solar panels, and lithium batteries.

Weight and range

The prototype weighs 775 kg (some sources say under 780 kg), with a planned production weight of 600 kg. The company claims towing the C-Fold can increase EV range by 100 km compared to a standard trailer.

Interior

The interior is modular: a compact kitchen, a toilet that extends from the floor, and a front lounge that stows into a niche.

The Lüdenscheid Automobile Club, together with ADAC camping experts, is holding a weighing campaign for motorhomes and motorhome-trailer combinations. The event takes place on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Schützenplatz Hohe Steinert. Participants receive a detailed protocol showing total weight and axle load distribution. Organizers note that overloaded or improperly loaded vehicles can impair handling and pose a safety risk.
