Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched the Multivan Camper, a base version of its long-wheelbase van designed for conversion into a camper. The vehicle comes with a factory-fitted pop-up roof and two swivelling front seats, but the rear cabin is completely empty, offering 4,053 litres of cargo space. There are no rear seats, table, storage systems or floor covering.
Two powertrains are available: a 2.0 TDI diesel with 150 hp (148 hp in some sources) and an eHybrid plug-in hybrid with 240 hp (237 hp in other reports). Pricing varies: from £43,900 excluding VAT (approximately €50,500 excluding VAT) to £52,680 including taxes. The vehicle is classified as an incomplete chassis, requiring additional certification before registration once the conversion is finished. Sales are initially targeted at professional converters in the UK.
