Hamburg-based Good Camper, specializing in camping accessories and roof tents, filed for bankruptcy in July 2026, in the middle of the holiday season.
The industry is in crisis: traditional motorhome dealer Schafhäutle Reisemobile from Kirchheim unter Teck filed for bankruptcy in late April, with main insolvency proceedings opened in late June. 19 employees are affected.
Manufacturer Dethleffs is halving its caravan lineup, discontinuing the Camper, Nomad, and Beduin Scandinavia series (priced from 26,000 to 44,000 euros) due to falling demand. Last year, Dethleffs sales fell by 13%, and in the first five months of this year, by another 8%. Bürstner also plans to completely stop caravan production. The industry is shifting toward expensive motorhomes: at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Dethleffs will present two new XL models priced at 122,000 and 132,000 euros.
