Bankruptcies ahead of Caravan Salon
Days before the Caravan Salon trade fair opens in Düsseldorf, running from 28 August to 6 September, several motorhome rental companies and dealers have filed for bankruptcy.
- Vanever (FreeVenture GmbH): rented out more than 430 campervans and motorhomes, filed in early August and ceased operations on 16 August.
- Schafhäutle Reisemobile and HECK Caravan und Reisemobile: are undergoing insolvency proceedings.
New motorhome and caravan registrations in Germany fell by 3% in the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period last year. The motorhome and caravan fleet exceeds 1.8 million units, and the industry's annual turnover is estimated at more than 15 billion euros. According to source 1, Germany has more than one million motorhomes registered; according to source 2, more than 1.8 million units. The industry as a whole is not experiencing mass bankruptcies.
