Thetford has introduced the iNDUS ECO toilet for motorhomes, requiring no chemical reagents. Earlier, in the 1960s, it developed the Thermasan system that burned waste in the exhaust — production ceased in the late 1970s due to environmental regulations and practical issues.
Thetford has launched the iNDUS ECO toilet for motorhomes, operating without chemical reagents. The unit uses 200 ml of water per small flush and 500 ml per full flush, weighs 7.5 kg, and is equipped with a quiet macerating pump. The system allows waste to be discharged into the gray water tank. According to the manufacturer, this is the first chemical-free toilet for all types of motorhomes.
Thermasan: A historical alternative
In the 1960s, Thetford developed the Thermasan system for self-propelled motorhomes, which burned waste from the holding tank in the exhaust system at temperatures above 480°C. The tank could be emptied from the driver's seat while driving, but up to 20 liters of liquid waste per hour were released onto the road, and an unpleasant odor remained inside. Thermasan was installed on some models, including the GMC Motorhome, but was discontinued in the late 1970s due to stricter environmental regulations and practical drawbacks.
