On the state road Terni–Rieti, at the border between the Italian regions of Umbria and Lazio, a campervan and a tourist bus collided head-on. Preliminary reports indicate the campervan crossed into oncoming traffic. The bus was returning tourists from the Marmore waterfall.
The crash killed six people: two bus drivers, two passengers, and two people from the campervan. 34 people were injured. One source says two injured are in critical condition and six are serious; another says four are critical. No Romanian citizens were among the casualties.
The road was closed for several hours. The Terni prosecutor's office has opened an investigation.
