Caravan goes up in flames in Rhenen

Teitsma Campers has evolved from a hobby into a professional motorhome market operator over six years. The business started in Burgum and is now based in Feanwâlden, where it offers motorhome sales, maintenance, and consultations.

A motorhome belonging to a couple from Nijmegen rolled into the water in Drachten while the owners were away. The incident occurred during their first trial week with the vehicle, after they discovered a gas leak and left to buy a new hose. The vehicle had to be recovered from the water by a tow truck.

Three islands in the Wadden archipelago — Texel, Terschelling, and Ameland — permit the entry of motorhomes. The islands of Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog have restricted motor vehicle traffic. Ferry space must be booked in advance for Terschelling and Ameland.

The municipality of Schagen does not plan to introduce special rules for motorhome tourists, deeming the current number of overnight spots sufficient. Authorities note that expanding the offer may only redistribute the tourist flow within the region without increasing its total volume, and developing new regulations would require significant administrative resources.

A static caravan was completely destroyed by fire overnight from Monday to Tuesday on the Harlingervaart canal in Franeker. Firefighters arrived around 03:05, but the blaze was already well-developed, making it impossible to save the structure. The caravan was empty, there were no casualties, and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
