On Monday evening, July 13, a tourist caravan was completely destroyed by fire on Michelstraat (also spelled Michielstraat in some reports) in Zelhem. The alarm was raised around 9:00 PM, and firefighters arrived within minutes, quickly bringing the fire under control and preventing it from spreading to neighboring caravans.
The blaze produced a large plume of smoke visible across the area. The campsite owner promptly evacuated everyone and removed nearby gas cylinders. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
