Demand for camper van conversions surges: which L1–L3 base to choose and how much payload remains
Original source: Motor16

Growth in camper tourism and fly-and-drive rentals is driving demand for converted vans. With a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg, high-roof L2H2 bases offer around 1,300 to 1,500 kg of payload, while the living cell weighs between 300 and 600 kg depending on equipment. One hundred litres of fresh water adds 100 kg, so mass calculations must be completed before interior fitting. The conversion requires a project, a converter's certificate of conformity and an ITV inspection for reclassification.
