Carrying capacity, user payload, weight allowance, load capacity
Payload is the maximum weight of passengers, personal belongings, food, water, and accessories that can be loaded into a motorhome or caravan, calculated as MTPLM minus MIRO.
Payload is often surprisingly low — some motorhomes have only 50–150 kg despite a 3,500 kg MTPLM. Water weighs 1 kg per litre; a full 100L tank adds 100 kg. Always weigh the loaded vehicle before travelling.
