Potable water, drinking water, fresh water, drinkable water tap, blue hose, NSF-rated water hose
Potable water is water safe for drinking and cooking, taken from approved sources such as municipal taps at campgrounds or fixtures labelled "potable water". A dedicated drinking-water hose (usually white or blue) is used to fill the RV fresh-water tank.
Do not confuse with non-potable water for rinsing or flushing — those points are marked red. The drinking hose should be NSF/ANSI 61 rated to avoid plastic taste. An in-line filter at the tank inlet is recommended; in transit, treat doubtful water with tablets or a UV pen. Sanitize the tank once a season with about 1 mL of bleach per 10 L of water and a full flush.
