A new free caravan area has opened in the municipality of Arona, located at the waste reception point. The facility allows dumping grey and black water, refilling drinking water, and connecting to electricity. The Cabildo de Tenerife invested €3.5 million in the project.
The measure aims to prevent uncontrolled discharges in protected areas and is part of a strategy to adapt the waste reception network to the growing number of motorhomes on the island. Authorities plan to extend this model to other waste reception points, keeping the service free.
In 2025, the station processed 161,925 tonnes of waste, and the reception point was visited by 29,000 users. The new infrastructure will reduce truck trips by up to 995 per year.
