The Cabildo of Tenerife has allocated €3.5 million to transform the former Malpaso waste transfer station in Arona into a logistics center. The project includes a new recycling drop-off point, bulky waste crushing equipment, and a motorhome service area where users can empty gray and black water tanks and refill with fresh water. In 2025, the station handled 161,925 tonnes of waste, accounting for 34.73% of the total processed at all transfer stations on the island. The new facility is expected to reduce truck trips by 60–80%, avoiding 746 to 995 journeys annually.
