The Valencian government has announced funding for camper van infrastructure in six municipalities in the province's interior that face depopulation. According to one source, the amount is about €150,000; another cites €146,093. The funds will be distributed under a 2026 grant program aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and supporting local economies.
Plans include constructing and modernizing waste disposal and water supply points. These facilities will allow travelers to dump gray and black water, refill drinking water, and use basic sanitary services. The initiative is expected to boost tourism and the economy of these rural areas.
The funds will go to La Yesa, Caudete de las Fuentes, Villargordo del Cabriel, Benisuera, Pinet, and Zarra. Benisuera and Pinet are located in the Vall d'Albaida comarca. In Benisuera, which has about 185 residents, there is already a camper van area on Moli Street with water and gray and black water drainage systems; the funds will be used to modernize it.
