According to sector forecasts, more than 100,000 tourists will visit the Valencian Community this summer in 33,000 motorhomes and campers, matching last year's figures. This is the first summer season after the reform of the General Traffic Regulations, which introduces uniform parking rules for motorhomes across Spain. Enrique Rita, president of the Valencian Community Caravanning Association, noted sector growth since 2020 and stabilised demand, with rental becoming the main way to access this type of tourism. Average daily spending per motorhome exceeds €120.
Subsidies for infrastructure
The Valencian government has allocated €542,035 to 22 municipalities at risk of depopulation to create or modernise motorhome service points. Funds will go towards building and equipping "clean points" — infrastructure for dumping grey and black water and supplying drinking water. In Castellón province, 15 municipalities will receive subsidies, including Xodos, Santa Magdalena de Pulpis and Traiguera; in Valencia province — La Yesa, Caudete de las Fuentes, Torás, Benisuera, Villargordo del Cabriel, Pinet and Sarría. The initiative aims to attract travellers, boost local economies and promote sustainable tourism.
