The campground on the Elbe island Lühesand (Stade district) opened on May 29, 2026, later than the planned Easter start. The delay was caused by ice on the Elbe in spring, which hampered construction work. The campground was closed in 2025.
New tenant Philipp Künken completely renewed the water supply, sewage and electricity systems, and installed internet. The site features a family beach club with six trampolines, volleyball courts (one source says two, another just courts), a water slide and a beach soccer field. The campground is called "Familieninsel Lühesand".
There are no fixed pitches; guests choose their own spot. Areas are designated for tents, motorhomes and campers, as well as Tiny Houses that can be evacuated to the mainland in case of flood risk. The season runs until the end of October.
