CSIF protests working conditions at Costa del Sol Hospital: employees sleep in cars and motorhomes

Police in Arrecife (Lanzarote) seized 21 kg of cocaine from a motorhome in Costa Teguise. Five people aged 55 to 58 were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organization. The operation was carried out by the Judicial Police Narcotics Group.

The Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) party stated that the opposition has been proposing the creation of camping zones for motorhomes for years, but the ruling Agrupación Socialista Gomera (ASG) did not support these initiatives. None of the island's six municipalities have suitable facilities for motorhome parking. According to IxLG representative Guzmán Correa Marichal, the lack of planning and infrastructure hinders orderly and sustainable tourism development despite growing demand.

A motorhome driver stopped at the last moment before the San Marcos bridge in León, avoiding a collision due to height clearance issues. The bridge, with a 2.5-meter height limit, is a recurring site for incidents involving tall vehicles, despite enhanced signage installed in 2021 at a cost of 10,000 euros.

A company has applied for an environmental permit to create a caravan overnight area in the Alcolea district of Córdoba. The city already has a similar zone near the La Salud cemetery and the Los Villares campsite.

On Saturday 25 April, a convoy of over 500 motorhomes occupied the TF-1 highway on Tenerife. Owners demand parking and waste disposal infrastructure, protesting alleged harassment by municipalities.

Spain's DGT issued Instruction PROT 2026/04 tightening technical inspection for motorhomes and campers. Motorhomes over 10 years: yearly ITV; campers over 10: twice a year. Fleet tripled from 48,000 (2015) to 137,000. Fines up to €5,000 for illegal parking; new sign S-128 for waste disposal points.
